Hi
I am Greg and live in Canberra,
only just found this forum and think it is great.
I love old radios.
My Grand mother worked for AWA Australia and she put together the very first AWA Radiola. Model: B15 ?? to come off the line in Australia This one is Red all the others are white and purple?? and I have that radio in my kitchen and listen to it every morning. ( still going strong but takes about 3 mins for the tubes to warm up before working.
Look forward to reading more of the forum.

G'day Greg,

The B15 was a very popular radio though not quite the first one to come off the production line. It came in quite a few colours and was one of the last valve-powered models to be produced before AWA moved over to full transistorisation.

I am not 100% on this but I seem to remember seeing this particular model available rebadged as a Westinghouse, though still made by AWA of course.

You get more from valves. Smile Approve Cool Smoke

Hi Brad.
My Grandmother worked for AWA, and for the newspaper and promotion she built the very fist B15 to be made here in australia. Not hte first AWA radio but the first one of that model and for that one they made it red and presented it to her with the certificate stating it was the first one.
But I was trying to say that I think because of my grandmother and her radio collection I have grown up loving radios.

Tutorials

These tutorials contain a lot of worthwhile information relating to specific aspects of vintage radio. I recommend a read of these though some of them are quite large. You might need a cuppa tea and a few hours to get through them all in one hit.

Restorations

Back by popular demand are a few articles of mine that deal with restoration of vintage radios. As I edit them for clarity they will be republished.
