Hi People
Just a quick intro
Nick name is DJ & I am from NSW Aust
Found the Forums via my Quest for information on old Valve Radios
Quite informative and helpful I have found the forums so far
Electronics was my hobby, then kinda my Job but haven't done much in ages
Since Finding my habit again of badly playing guitar
I have been on a quest for something I really kinda stayed away from Valve Tech...and one valve lead to another
I actually have a Beehive that I want to get going again
as its kinda a family keep sake so this is why I landed here
Quite oddly,
how many times I walked down Alice St, Newtown and never knew thats were it was made all those years ago
Anyway
So now, refining I guess my love for electronics and hoping to learn much with the kind help of forum members,on restoring these old beauties
In time I should hope to return that input to others
Thank you people, Great forums
(fixed typo above)

Welcome to the forum.
When I read the bit about guitars and beehive radio I was hoping and greatly relieved not to then read about the radio being converted into a practice amplifier. There's far to much of that vandalism occurring.

G'day DJ and welcome to the forums.
Lots and lots of radio factories in Newtown and surrounding suburbs. Kriesler, Airzone, AWA, Breville and STC were all made in the inner suburbs at one time or another. Bikes, prams, cars, trucks, clothing, newspapers, beer and food was also made in nearby factories - gone are the days. Sydney was also a major shipbuilding port in its heyday, building runabouts, workboats, tugs, submarines, passenger ferries, merchant freighters, battlecruisers and everything in between.

A valve a day keeps the transistor away...

^ Not forgetting of course valves manufactured at Ashfield (AWV) and Camperdown (Philips).
