Hi all, Just joined. I'm a retired tech into Old valve TV's, Pinball & arcade machines. I have a growing collection of Philips, AWA, Healing & Westinghouse B/W TV's.

G'day Doug,
Welcome to the forums. We have quite a few active telly collectors here.

I remember when Pong was first introduced in pubs at 20 cents a game. It was played on a table with the CRT set into it.
At home we had it in a controller with individual handheld pots. You could play it solo or with a partner. Bought it at Tandy, back before it was owned by the grocer.

Cocktail format, like Space Invaders.

The day in about 1975 I first played Pong, in a pub, on a flat table-top, is still fresh in my memory. I thought it was a miracle! Yesterday I watched a toddler in a pusher playing something much more complex on her Mum's touch-screen phone. Another miracle.

I have had my attempt approved this month by Guinness for the World's Smallest Arcade Machine,
which means, I can go ahead and build it, and it will be recognised.
It is to be a Space Invaders rip off.
The current 2013 record is also the first.
Midway and Taito have not responded to requests for free
licensing for the purpose, but I sent emails only last week, so an attempt at the real one could still happen.

Those are some awesome pieces of equipment! What's the model of the 11" Westinghouse portable? I've seen the AWA version, the P1 series, in burgundy, cream and blue - but not black before... Very nice indeed!
