Hello guys, been looking around the forum for a bit and though I would say hello.

I'm currently studying mech. engineering in melbourne, and just starting to get into earlier radio's and record players.

At the moment my other hobby is taking up most of my time:





But ive been lucky enough to "inherit" this little radio, an aristone.



My grandad used to service radios and TVs, and he has also given me access to his large collection of valves, which he wants to get rid of.

a lot more where these came from!










We are yet to take an inventory, I'm guessing it may take a while as he has a cupboard full of them as well

Do you know what model it is? If not, can you let us know its valve line-up.

My first car in 1970 was a second hand Mini. It was so old it had the sliding windows. Its battery fell out onto the road one day. Battery compartment under the rear seat had rusted through. Lucky not to have set itself on fire.

Then the CV joints went so I sold it to a guy for a packet of cigarettes. (Gave up smoking and driving Minis.)

Wow, that's quite a collection of valves!
If drool could be transmitted over the net you would have
to wipe a lot of drool off them.

With a collection of vales like that, who knows what else
you could inherit:
ICs, speakers, transformers, coil winding copper, old
scopes, component bridge, resistors by thousand, caps,
sockets, power supplies, plug packs, connectors, cct
board making stuff, benches, 240v electrical stuff, 50 or so
different rolls of colour coded wire on a 6 x 8 foot frame,
instrument boxes, chassis stuff.

He would probably even have a 1 inch round TV tube in
there somewhere, and maybe even some of the very first
LEDs that when your Granddad tried to tell people about (these
diodes that emit light), they all thought he was lying.

There, that should do it.

Sometimes their settings do work and other times they don't and on other occasions they do but take a while to have effect. It's no biggie. I can host the photos here if all else fails.

With Photobucket, sometimes when you resize the effect is immediate in PB but subsequent links seem to get the original size.

Had a 68 Mini with twin SUs and extractors - great fun on Macquarie Pass. Not so much fun when five sets of coal truck wheel nuts go past at 60mph at head height two feet away.

There is something about the combination of old cars and old radios ........ maybe ...... both have lots of dirt and rust when you first get them, and lots of sparkle when you get them cleaned up and operating properly?? ......

My cousin is a 'Mini nut'. He constructed an inground concrete swimming pool the shape of a Mini in his backyard.

I'm into MG's ........ I enjoy the challenge of tuning twin SU's and aligning IF's in my retirement.

i will need help identifying the radio, here is a picture of the valve line-up. also should note the radio is not currently
working. ECH35, EBF35, EL33?



and yes it is a large valve collection. too much for us. we will most likely start taking an inventory and advertising some of them for sale, so if there is anything you want, let us know and we'll see what we've got.

Ah, my first car was a bright red ex Police Special 1310 Cooper S. I reckon if I drove it now with my bum 4 inches off the road I'd probably mess myself! I've still got a Moke that's been stored since the early 80's with an original 60k on the clock. Unfortunately it's starting to get a bit of cancer.

Very nice scraps, Police Coopers are pretty much royalty in the mini community these days. Very Very rare.

Don't worry, Mokes are easy to fix, all your patch panels will only need to be flat and square

and thanks Brad, I tried editing them on PB, didnt seem to work though :/ i'll make sure I edit them before uploading in future.
