Just out of habit I suppose, I place all replaced components in a ziplock bag and put it in the cabinet.
Especially if original dial glass, speaker cloth, broken/cracked knobs etc.
This with a folded copy of the circuit, and comments.
For those that come across the radio in the future.
And, initial and date restored.
JJ

Sorry, I just saw there was a second page of comments. I'll drop you a line Tallar Carl.

Just for interest, I've noticed that the chassis in my set is exactly the same as the chassis in another "mystery"/generic set here https://vintage-radio.com.au/default.asp?f=1&th=1189

Well spotted. In that thread there's a link to photos of my version of the radio.

The original plastic used, was the same as the stuff used for cinema film: Absolute nightmare. It is a form of Nitro Cellulose and started decomposing the day it was made. It is the decomposition nitrates that caused it to go brownish.

That is also why we ended ended up with stuff like cellulose acetate.

The idea when there is no data on the chasses of radios; Is to create one from what you have. Even if its been hacked. Layout first then circuit; Then you can, or have it worked out to fix. Reverse engineering is tedious, but I have resorted to it several times. To the point in 1995 I bought an AutoCAD program to draw them.

The name Rheola means nothing to me, though I note that there's district of Victoria with that name.

I'm inclined to side with the suggestion that it's a house brand name.

Rheola did not have grid power until 1957
