I've been retired for 10 years and am just starting a clean up. In doing so, I found my parents-in-law HMV Little Nipper 61-51 A careful dusting down showed obvious dirt and old parts that have suffered the ravages of time and neglect. I'm aware that the analogue AM system will close down at some stage. Question is, is it worth restoring the radio and repair and replace where necessary, or just call it quits now after the physical clean up. I used to repair radios when in high school 55 years ago, so I do know something of my way around old valve radios.

Worth a full restoration or not depends on your particular point of view. In my case, my small collection is pure nostalgia: they are the radios that I grew up with in my family and those of my grandparents. They all work because I want them to be useful as well. I used to build valve projects as a teenager and got back into it when I retired. I had to hit the books again, that's for sure!
There are still hundreds of Little Nippers out there in various states of repair, so there will be no financial gain in it.
Yes, AM is on the way out, and to accommodate that I have a small AM transmitter (valve of course!) which can broadcast whatever source material I want around the house.

I'm not after financial reward, just like the nostalgia of listening to Saturday night radio ("Everybody loves Saturday night") from 4LG when I was in Innisfail at high school 50plus years ago. What I would like is to get hold of the schematic for the HMV Little Nipper 61-51 so I can start its restoration.

If you "unhide" your email address in your member profile, I'll send you the schematic, parts list and alignment notes.

I've hopefully 'revealed' my email address so you can send me the information outlined. Many thanks for that. I guess I'll end up with a few more solder burns disconnecting and reconnecting parts, but they are honourable wounds!

Hello all
My first post to your forum (thank you!)
I, too, would like a schematic and parts list for the Little Nipper 61-51 if possible please.
This has been our morning ABC radio, but has recently failed.
Thanks in anticipation
Carol (on behalf of he who fixes things - Alf)
PS - think my email address may be 'hidden' but am not sure how to 'unhide' it???

Thanks everyone for your support, especially GTC! The Little Nipper is back up and running, including new globes, so we can see as well as hear!

Hi All,
Trying to get a HMV Little Nipper 61-51 working. Would anyone have a schematic, parts list etc.
Regards Peter
