Hi all

I have finally run out of 500v caps. I am after 8/10μF, 16μF and 22μF. Who are the recommendations for these in bulk qty of +10. Prefer Aust. Stock.

Sorry for short hand. Written on phone...

Another NBN success story......

Try Steve Saville: He does advertise here occasionally. Must admit my stocks of them are virtually non existent.

Welcome to the reality of NBN. I have to switch it off to calibrate a radio as they cheepskated & made it non-compliant for RFI. Plus their signal fails for a variety of reasons, about every four to six weeks.

If you have seen the advertisement, I think Romania is still winning.

I would try Steve, but he is once again un able to be contacted and his website is down.

Any others. I would rather not purchase from USA / Canada but might end up that way.

Just watch what brand you buy. I have stopped buying 450V ones as a lot of them are cheap crap and I have had several failures, even in 500V ones.

No fails yet in ones I have bought from Steve. I often put them on a reformer before I use them in situe as you cannot be sure as to how long they have been in stocks..

So far so good with the Evatco ones.
The Goldentone and Vadis guitar amps and a number of console radios have been ok so far.
I should get into the habit of reforming before use, might avoid a potential failure, pun intended.

Bit the bullet and ordered some from Evatco. Saves stuffing around....

I hate stuffing around and having to stroke egos to get something done.

Thanks all for the info.

I have also found out that HRSA members can get them at a good price through the valve bank.

Evatco are very good. they have a very large supply of NOS valves but you have to give them a list of what you want. I have done this before. I also have taken it on myself to get a fair bit of stock so I can supply the local club members here in Canberra. I do have 600 volt electros in stock ( more than I can use ) and I sell them quite cheaply. I also have cotton covered 3 core power cable in brown and white. I just sell mine a cheap prices so I can do a bit of bartering on the radios at the meetings.

It is a shame but that is where a major on line seller is. Sometimes works out well but at the moment the $AUD to $USD is not the best.....

... which is the same address as AES. Reportedly, the manufacturing equipment was originally owned by Mallory.
