Hi Vic,
That is an unusual valve line up - I'm guessing some of the valves have been changed? You have 4 volt and 6 volt filament valves there, with different base types. Can you post a picture of the chassis (top and bottom) to help with identification.

Robert

Plus some good, sharp photos of the console itself. We may be able to find a period ad to match it.

Sounds like a pre WW II radio to me with the Philips P base valves being used in it.

I've commonly seen sets with P base valves originally having some or all of them replaced by octals. The reason is that the P base types, especially the 4 volts ones were not easily obtainable as replacements even back in the day. I have a Music Masters chassis that I bought recently just for the dial with most of the P based 4 volt valves replaced by by 6.3 volt octals. Yes, these valves and the 5 volt rectifier only have 4 volts to light them. It may have just worked when the valves were new, less so as they aged. The "Serviceman Who Tells" in Radio & Hobbies also wrote of such a case also.

Cheers, Stuart
