Hi All,

I found this sign in a shed that we are cleaning out as the building has been sold. The house and shed used to be owned by a family who ran radio and TV sales amongst other things, shearing supplies and gas cylinders.

The sign was in a wooden packing crate/frame which I prized open. The halves were wrapped in a sort of tarred black paper material, inside that, the halves had brown paper seperating them. In the photos attached, you will see some of this paper still stuck to the signs. In the bottom right hand side of the right hand panel it has the signwriters company "Standard Signs Sydney PTY LTD".

I have also attached a photo of the frame the signs were in, and was wondering if anyone knows what they would be worth, or who might be interested in purchasing it, or what age it could be.

Looking forward to any responses.

Cheers,

Buzzboy.

If that is a screen printed sign it'll be worth a couple of hundred dollars. Perhaps up to a thousand if it is printed in stoving enamel. Radio memorabilia is often worth as much as the radios themselves, to the right people of course. Finding a sign like that still in its crate and in perfect condition will ensure a good return.

Don't accept anything less than a thousand bucks for it.

Thanks for posting the pics Brad.
Wondering if anyone had any ideas where the best place to sell it would be?
Thanks.

It might be worthwhile making a special case for the sign to maintain it in pristine condition.
If this sign is made with vitreous enamel, the enamel could be damaged if the sign is screwed down carelessly, as it would be essentially glass fused onto steel backing.

The Radiofest, if you are attending, otherwise Ebay.

There are people that collect signs. Go to a reputable auction house maybe you should contact Resurrection Radio in Melbourne. EBay really would not be my choice with this sort of gear.

I doubt that a retailer will pay the retail price for something like this. It has to be sold where people will fight for it. An auction house, yes. Ebay, yes. Resurrection Radio - only if they sell it on consignment.

Spoke to someone at Resurrection Radio, they weren't interested and he also suggested Ebay.
Will keep looking, and thanks for all your input so far.
