I am thinking very carefully about rebuilding my EFCO kit radio as a Little General. Does any of you have fairly simple instructions on how to do this. I have spare transformers , tuning gangs and IF transformers . I am thinking of completely stripping the chassis that I have and giving it a bath in rust converter. I believe it is redeemable.
Marcc do you have any info.

Hi, what you have IS a "Little General" !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If you call any radio made with the new style 1940's valves from a kit a "Little General" then your set qualifies..
That was the intention of John Moyle as the LG started off as a very basic set with the hot new octal valves, open coils, basic IF's very few parts, what ever he could lay his hands on and over the years Radio and Hobbies grew the design to dual wave, AGC, swish dial etc as you have.
Have you read my version of a LG build in this web site special projects?
I had a go at defining what a LG could be as well as making one from scratch from junk.
You have a full kit ready to go, a great situation, all you have to is fix all the parts and awaaaaaaaaaaaay you go.
Cheers, Fred.

Have a look at the Index for the Radio and Hobbies and choose what Little General you want to build. there was many of them published over the years.

You may also be interested in the CD that has all the radio and hobbies on it. I think it was available from Silicon Chip.

Sorry for the short post but in hospital for spine fusing.
