My wandering daughter just picked up an AWA 457MA radio for me and I have been unable to find one on the net.

If anyone has information on this radio or where to get some, I would appreciate it

Clive
Are you sure thats the correct number. AORSM lists a 457P but no 457MA, Any chance of a photo? Do you know whats the valve lineup?
Ben

Hi Ben, I have not got it yet but my daughter says that is the number stamped on to the chassis.

Google brings up this http://picclick.com.au/BAKELITE-STYLE-AWA-Radiola-457MA-RADIO-112096187308.html

This is an AC mantle and the P is a portable from what I can see and a totally different shape.

Mine also is the same colour.

Radio museum shows only the P version as well.

I pick it up next weekend and I will give you much more detail then.

Thank you for the swift reply.

Cheers

There were lots of AWA/Hotpoint models with the MA suffix.

The first digit in the model number of that era tended to indicate the valve count.

The model pictured as 457MA is very similar to the 449MA.

The radio in those images is a 467MA.

There are some slight cabinet differences between the 449MA & 467MA.

Circuit wise the 467MA is very similar to a 449MA, but has a ferrite rod antenna.

Ben, I must apologise for my daughters bad eye sight (she has glasses but tends not to wear them), it was 467MA and after looking at a close up picture it is still quite hard to see 6 instead of a 5.

I have been able to get all circuits etc from the Radio Museum site.

Many thanks for your assistance.

Cheers
