Hi all,

I'm restoring an unusual Sachsenwerk Olympia radio, model 838WK (1938). This is a long shot, but I wonder if anyone has a knob for the one missing? I'll send a photo for identification. I may have to have one moulded, but I thought I would ask here first.

Thanks,

Robert

I've never heard of that brand before, but the knob design doesn't too look complicated so moulding ought to be a viable option.

Yes GTC, a mould might be the way to go. It is a very uncommon (in Australia) German radio. Unusually complicated and very well made. It has a mechanically variable IF core- adjusted in conjunction with the tone control! I'm planning to submit this restoration to the Radio Waves mag next year - if all goes to plan.

Look forward to reading about it.

If memory serves, there's someone in VIC who makes knobs from samples. I think he wrote about the process in Radio Waves.
