I would hope a photo has been sent in so we can see the model etc.
Heartening to note you reneging on powering it. I often get more money & frustration fixing up the mess caused by the over exuberant plugging in totally unknown in condition sets to see if they work.
Normally as they were often abandoned, as they broke down and with the effluxion of time, things deteriorate anyway & they won't. Certain things need to be checked (and can be) before powering. I am never the least bit concerned about doing a few tests on some parts of a set to see if it's a viable repair / refurbish and do so without ever powering it, until I have sorted it & consider it safe to power.

Hmmm!
I'm very glad you didn't plug it in.
I don't see a mains transformer, looks like it might be a DC mains set. Hence live chassis and potentially dangerous. Definitely a resto job for someone who knows what they are doing.
Interesting! As well as the DC operation it looks like there is a wave change knob in the back. You might have something very rare there.
Made in Alice St. Newtown.
Looks like the ARTS&P transfer is damaged and missing its prefix letter. Can you see evidence of a capital letter between C and F followed by some numerals at the bottom of the transfer? That letter will tell us the date it was made, - 1935 to 1939.

If it's a transformerless set, then it doesn't look to be too well insulated!
I think I can spot a transformer on its side between the speaker and the IF can.
The warning diagram in the back of the chassis lists the valves. What types are they?

This radio is called a World Range "Compact", dual-wave model 3K20 from 1940. It is a AC mains set.
The valve line up is as follows: EK2G, 6G8G, EL3NG or 6AG6G & 80.
Kriesler relocated from Chippendale to a new factory built at Alice St, Newtown in 1940. There is a three story painted brick building still standing on the corner of Pine & Myrtle St's, Chippendale, which I believe could be the old Kriesler factory.
A fire extensively damaged the Alice St factory on the night of January 28, 1960. Temporary premises were secured at Euston Rd, Alexandria to resume the production of TV's & radio's. The fire at Alice St hastened the construction of the new factory at Caringbah. The site at Caringbah, formerly a market garden, was purchased by Kriesler in 1956 with the view for future development in television production.

Well spotted.
I see online an ad for it in 18 November 1939 issue of The Age.
