Hi.
I have for sale a piece of early test equipment, It is a combined
Multimeter, Modulated Oscillator, and a Signal tracer with an R.F. probe.

This is the only one that I have ever seen, and due to the fact that I rarely ever get old radios to repair anymore, I would rather have the space.

Price $20.00 Pick-up only. More pictures available.

G'day Wayne,

This unit was a kit which was included as part of a correspondence course in radio servicing by the Australian Radio and Television College, Sydney.

When the student completed a number of units of the course, he would be sent a kit for a multimeter, then an oscillator, then a signal tracer to build onto the front panel. The idea was he would complete the course with a set of basic servicing instruments.

I have viewed a couple of these instruments with the University label on the meter if my memory chips are correct and not full of parity errors, or maybe University made the kits for the ARTVC and placed a label on the front panel, can't be sure of which.

I have a scan of the rear cover of RTV&H for Feb 1955 with an ad for the college containing an image of this unit if you are interested, can be posted to Brad.

Hope this is of interest .

Cheers, Graham...

Wayne,

If it's still available I would like to get it, since you're only about an hour away.

Yes Graham.

I would like to see the scan.

It would also be nice if someone had a schematic for whomever the new owner will be.

Thank you.

Wayne.

The University Test Set has now gone to a new home.

If anyone has the schematic for it, that will help the new owner with restoration.

Thanking everyone.

Wayne.

Finally got to work on this. It consists of a signal generator, a signal tracer, and a multimeter.

Valves used are 1S5, 3S4, 1R5, 3S4. It needs a battery so had to wait for Ian's battery eliminator to appear.

The signal tracer's speaker transformer was blown, and the unit rusted out and useless. The probe was smashed internally and the special valve was missing.

The multimeter section was also rusted out, and the meter damaged. The meter is made by University Graham Instruments Pty Ltd Sydney.

The signal generator was protected by a large iron box and looked a better prospect. When power was applied nothing happened and I soon found that the power goes through a large transformer which splits it up for the various stages. This transformer was completely open circuit all ways, so power was missing from various areas. This special part has no number and no idea exactly what it does, so the entire thing had to be scrapped.

I took a few parts out and dumped the rest. When I dropped the wooden cabinet in the bin it completely fell apart.

Perhaps I got my money's worth in parts.
