Hi Folks,

Im hoping someone can assist, I have an HMV Malibu O2-8J stereo record player that needs a new speaker. It requires a replacement for the current (blown) 30 ohm speaker.

Thanks
Scott

Specs?

Size, shape, ohms?

I have some 32 ohm 4" rounds if that would do. Mounting centres roughly the same as a 5" Rola.
Ex Pye T34 surplus stock, Japanese made, small magnet but surprisingly efficient.

Thanks Ian and Marc,

The current speaker is 30 Ohms. The schematic shows it should be 27 Ohms... (typical odd HMV thing) that is 150mm x 100mm oval in shape.

The case is very small so there isn't a lot of depth for fitting a speaker with a large magnet.

Below is a link with some pics (including one of the speaker that needs replacing)

Cheers

The ones I have would fit, but you'd need to make a cardboard baffle to fill in the small gap that will be left on the ends.

If you don't do any good finding a closer replacement let me know. My email isn't hidden.

The speaker impedance is not critical, within 50% or so will be fine. A lower impedance will give you a bit more power. Don't go below 15 ohms or the old germanium output pair will suffer.

Hi Ian,
Thanks for your reply.
I can certainly make a template for it.
Let me know how I can organise to get one from you.
Cheers
Scott

Email me with your address.

If you can also give me accurate external dimensions of the speaker I could check that what I have would fit.
