Hi Guys.

I need a 9-pin valve socket for my valve tester.

Chassis mount and fairly good quality (so it can stand lots of plug/unplug cycles).

Are these available new? If so, has anyone had experience with them? Quality? Reliability?

Thanks All.

Jaycar have them in resin:

http://www.jaycar.com.au/9-pin-valve-socket/p/PS2082

Altronics have them in ceramic:

So does EVATO, in QLD: http://www.evatco.com.au/

Suggest you get some 9 pin socket savers (from EVATCO) if you are going to use that socket frequently.

I've used the Jaycar sockets in an HMV E1 resto to replace the crumbling paper phenolic sockets for the rectifiers, that get quite hot, and in several other places. No sign of trouble, discolouration etc.. They seem quite sturdy and well made.

You can get good ceramic ones from China for next to nothing on eBay.
I even bought some ceramic UX6 bases for almost the same price as octal.
Clearly there is a market for UX6 although I'm not sure what it is.
Is the 57 (or 77) the latest channel for sonic verisimilitude....?
(I can't believe I spelled "verisimilitude" without needing the spell checker Smile )
