Due to the need to create more space I have decided to sell some of my radios over the next week or two.
Included in the first lot are some extremely rare sets, including three Airzone cathedrals - including the legendary model 404! - an R24 Radiolette, an Airzone 504, an American Howard 6 valve midget (not a misprint - SIX valves), a Peal battery set - rebadged Airzone Radiostar and a very rare beast, a huge Airzone tombstone and a few other less significant radios.
Be watching for auctions under the username vintage-radio*com*au and happy bidding.

Hi Brad.
Thanks for posting this and it brings up an issue with ebay.
Unless your item for sale is under cars for sale, you cannot set a reserve price.
The only way to set a minimum is to display what YOU think it is worth. The issue with this is that unless a genuine collector is monitoring ebay, you run the risk of either not selling your item for what it is worth, or not selling it at all.
Has anyone else discovered this?
Jeff

I sold about 35 radios about five years ago though I never considered setting a reserve price and was happy to let the radios go for whatever the high bidder was prepared to pay. With that, some radios did go for a little less but others attracted better than expected prices. It was a case of things working out in the wash.
One way of setting an equivalent to a reserve price is just to set a high starting price. That usually means the radio doesn't sell at all though. All the radios I put up start at $5.00 and then I let things run their course. Mainstream radios don't tend to attract the prices that were being paid about ten years ago, when a lot of people were going mad on it. If a price on a classic radio was too low in the last ten minutes I'd always pull the sale but that is a last resort and something I've done only once before.
The big problem for sellers is Ebay's stifling sale fees, which are nothing short of a joke.

I don't own a Sky Raider these days. I had one once but it was sold last time I had a sale.
