Hi there,

I'm am just finishing off restoring a Philips 178 deluxe radiogram and am missing the turntable.
Does anyone have a Philips AG1003 automatic turntable they are able to supply to me?

Look forward to hearing from you
Cheers
Scott

Hi Scotty

I remember the Philips changers - I used to repair them when new, under warranty.

Even apart from the now-unavailable integrated headshell, they really were a piece of shit! Particularly the later, all-plastic models. UGH!!!!

Philips also used to use BSR turntables in many of their models. They gave little trouble, were simple and easy to maintain. They take readily-available half-inch mount pickup cartridges too. Plenty of choice even now.

BSRs go for ever but like most things need regular maintenance (clean and lube) to keep them up to spec. Even when working at their best, rumble was noticeable. But only if you had a high-spec cartridge and a sound system with good bass response.

In high-end models they used Dual (brand) turntables/changers. These were quirky but not too bad. Good specs for wow/flutter and rumble.

No, I don't have any turntables, maybe someone else does.
