With only a few weeks to go, here are a couple of updates before the event.

The web page, http://www.haroldsradiosale.com/ now has price estimates for all the radios and a reserve price on a couple of special ones. I have not put an estimate on the cabinet lots or test equipment.

On line registration is available and bidder cards will be ready to pick up on the morning for everyone taking up this facility.

We are planning to have a 15 to 20 minute break after the first 100 lots when the cafe will be open for lunch type food, sandwich plates, mini quiche, a veggie slice etc. It will also be open from 9:30 to 11:00 for more brekkie/morning tea options and will be closed during the actual auction time. Please let me know if there are any special diet needs and I will see what we can do.

A reminder that payment can be cash, Mastercard or Visa at the conclusion of the auction.

If you cannot attend and wish to lodge an absentee bid, please contact me via the web page contact form.

Hope to see you there,

Harold

G'day Harold,

I'll definitely be there and it sounds like it'll be a good day for all involved. I did register early on however I don't recall if there was any confirmation of it, via e-mail, etc. Are you able to check if my rego was successful?

BTW: I'm not sure why the forums are showing this thread as locked. It's definitely open for comments and I will fix this up shortly. Smile

UPDATE: Bug with padlock icon fixed. Grin

Hi Brad

Yes, your early registration is there. New registrations do get a registration successful message, but this may not have worked properly with the first few starters.

Harold

I thought I would make a few comments on today's auction and allow Harold to give a more detailed report if he so wishes.

It was good to meet Harold (who was running the show) and also catch up with a few of the other collectors I see a few times a year. The drive up the F3 from Sydney wasn't too bad though being Sunday the run back was a bit more congested and I have to mention that the freeway still has its fair share of idiots who really do not understand how freeways are supposed to be used but anyway...

I was lucky enough to win two AWA fridges, a plain white one that runs on A and B batteries and an all-electric one that is white with brown spotted marbling - a rare specimen and both these were in very good condition. I also won an AWA 55E console which is pretty much in mint condition though it'll need knobs. These should be easy to get hold of. The last two items I won were a University valve tester and a BWD cathode ray oscilloscope, both in known working order. I look forward to using this vintage equipment to service and restore some of my vintage radios in the future.

A good day was had by all and I think most were able to walk away with something of interest. Harold and his family also did a sterling job with the catering! If only we could all do something like this every weekend! Grin
