Does anyone have any information on or own one of these early AWA sets. I have aquired a good 'smokers cabinet' case, and as usual it is missing the chassis. From the HRSA model list, the chassis is described as C29; 5 valves - 3 x UX199, and 2 x P410. If you have one or know someone who has one can you please contact me. I'd like to get some pictures of the chassis and front panel.
 Robert

I ran into this photo last night when searching for Healing 401E photos. Google is hardly ever accurate with these things but sometimes the diversions can help in other ways.
I'm lead to believe that the cabinet here is described as a smoker's cabinet.

If you are seeking a chassis, suggest contacting the VIC branch of HRSA. If you are an HRSA member, you can put a want ad in Radio Waves.

Hi Brad, that picture is an AWA model 4 (I actually own the set in your picture). The model 5A is in a similar, but smaller cabinet. And yes, I'm a member of the HRSA, but so far no luck with a chassis - although I think its highly unlikely to ever get another chassis. What I'd like is a picture of the chassis and front panel, and I will build one with period parts. ‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾

It would be a very rare radio, that is for sure. Those early AWA sets, probably made at the original Radio Electric Works, just off City Road, Darlington, would be amongst the to-die-for radios I reckon. I'd be happy with a replica too!
I kicked myself about two years ago when I saw a later C48 in an antique shop and then waited another week before coming back to buy it - it was gone. Next time I won't let one of those sets slip through the fingers.
