I have been working on a radiogram from 1952-ish. It is for a friend, no money involved. He wants to be able to play modern 33 1/3 records on it. The Philips works ok on 78 records, but there is too much side force trying to operate the mechanism which makes the modern records skip. There is no adjustment on this old girl for (anti-skate?). Everything I have read these were a very poor mechanism and advice is to replace it with a Garrard or similar if you actually want to use it.

So, has anybody rescued and old deck that would suit and wants to part with it. I guess a later model would be better given Mike's desire to actually use it. Any ideas?

Cheers,
Glenn.

Hi Glenn,

What the model number of the Philips turntable? I have worked on a number of them and tend to get them working ok.

Scott

Hi Scott. Sorry it took me a while to respond. It is a Philips 2508/15.
I found a service manual download this morning, but it is in (Dutch?). Dagnabbit....
