I'm looking for a power transformer to suit a sig gen I'm repairing. Needs to be 240v primary with a 120v and 6.3v secondaries. The smaller the better size wise as there isn't a lot of room, but I'm sure I can make something fit.
 Thanks
 Ben

That sounds like a Tech TED-20 or an LSG-11. If it has a cap on the primary to cabinet? Get rid if it & earth the metal cabinet. Fitting that cap makes them intrinsically unsafe. Don't know how they got into the country like that?
I after selling one LSG-11 , ended up with another LSG-11 ...New tubes (refurbished) all the same bad habits as the TED-20 & the other one (virtually same circuit). I don't need 3 Sig Gens.

MarcIts an Advance B2, and the cap was the first to go.

Marc, that circuit is not the one I have. Its half wave rectified 120volts. (1 Diode) The transformer is open on both secondary windings. I have a circuit on paper but I cant find an electronic copy on my PC Ben

What valves 6AR5, 12BH7 ? I find it very odd that both windings are open, the heater windings tend to be fairly robust, unless it has melted down.
If ithas a single valve I wonder if it is not a 62

MarcYes its a 62, typo on my behalf. It uses 12AT7.
And yes, both windings are open, it doesnt look like its been overheated but who knows what its past is.

Could you fit 2 small readily-available transformers?
 http://www.altronics.com.au/transformers/ei-core-transformers/

 240v to 12.6v CT
  500mA (CT gives 6.3v) - Altronics M2853L 240v to 30v
  150mA - Altronics M2855L.
Use a full-wave voltage doubler (2 diodes, 2 caps) to get about 90 v. DC from the M2855L. This may well be not much less than the half-wave rectifier originally gave. If that's not enough (it should be) then use a voltage tripler for 135v.

If you need a schematic, let me know.

 Ian
