That truly is a most desirable radio. As Ritchie would have said, "Magnificent "

I can't work out which was considered most important, the cabinet, or the radio/chasis.

Even the record player looks Art Deco.

By the way, I do like the art deco script of the title of this web site.

By the way, I do like the art deco script of the title of this web site.

I did a 'midlife' refresh last week. I've got a new design in the planning stage - the site's layout won't change much, if at all, but the colour scheme and the font in the body of the pages will change to something that will be better on the eye.

The font used for the title is likely to stay though. Smile

When all this rolls out there will be three new features, including the long awaited for ability for members to embed photos in their posts.

Have there been complaints? I think it's fine right now, as it stands.

No complaints as such but the intended colour scheme cannot be seen on all monitors. On some, the shades of brown appear as a yellow-tinged ochre and this isn't good. That said, it's never easy to balance warm colours on a website. Never has been and probably never will be.

It's unfortunate because I think the brown theme that the site has had since day one is the most suitable for the subject matter here.

Also: Marc's last post on page one has some photos added.

I agree that the brown theme suits the subject.

I also much prefer a pastel coloured background to the stark white of many forums, which can fatigue my eyes after a short time.

Perhaps you could experiment with colour tonal adjustment of the theme on the monitors that want to render the site as ochre, and find a compromise setting?

(Shouldn't hijack the thread. Can you move these posts to a new thread?)

I wasn't going to let the cat out of the bag though a 'move' function is one of the new features planned as per the above. The good news is that the new site won't go white. Smile

Thanks Marc for the additional information, I'm now convinced they did use the EMMCO chassis having seen your above adverts, I notice the escutcheon is definitely the same one. I'll have to have a dig through some of the old magazines I have in my collection, maybe I can find something in them.

Barry.

EMMCO circuits are like "hens teeth" as said. The one in the picture had been hacked and the only circuit I had & the one that appeared in Silicon Chip in 2009 was done by me reverse engineering it & having a couple of guys in the Radio Club look at it to reduce errors in that circuit, that I still have.

There was a number like 425- stenciled on the chassis, from memory. That may also have one?

I do have pan photo's archived. But I know where it is. They are not that complex. IFT's are uncommon "bottom trimmers". As it has an 80, do not run it sideways and it will, of course need an overhaul.

It may have been missed but I note on Radio Museum a comment that EMMCO SH6 was used by Rexanola.

That would explain the similarities to an EMMCO, as it probably is an EMMCO

I agree Marc,

I found this advert for the Dalton model with the same distributor as your above advert.

The six valve that we thought was an AC5. Has the circuit that I drew up by reverse engineering, on Kevin Chants site as an EMMCO AC5.

Do note there are some minor mods from the original as the set was hacked, it contained wiring errors. and it was a case of doing that which was necessary to get it to work, & stay working.

To avoid future pain, I drew up the circuit as I do with anything that I fix, which a circuit could not be found for.

Compare.

Marc
