Interesting: Have a PM on the bench MOH albeit OP transformer is open.

There are a few IFT's here in a couple of piles of.... in several locations, here may have something but will likely be a slug or top trimmer.

Will look as soon as I get a chance

Have a look at link for a giggle.

May be hard to find one of that type, but not hard to find a scrap one. The issue being it has to be the right frequency. That is why it is preferable to rat it from a known chassis.

Now at the risk of sounding ridiculous & pedantic That looks like the first IFT. So it should be "missing IFT". The reasoning behind that is that they often have a different part number, because they are indeed slightly different, and in the same set.

As I thought there are no cans of that type here, the only two types that would fit in, that I have is a Blue AWA around 38mm square and another marked 24-10 similar size but 90mm high, AWA 112 high. Interesting that both have the same Bakelite base & pins and are slug tuners (top & bottom)

I would have hoped someone had a scrap chassis? I wondered about the other on being open at the top? I have not looked at the circuit but that is marked 220V. I would hope there is another tapping that can move to 240-260V.

There is a sticker 240 volt above the one that says 220 volt
This is 90mm high and close to 39mm square
I dont have the circuit for this if you or anyone else has it could they please email it to me
Thanks George

That model was featured with circuit, in Silicon Chip March 2004. They will happily sell you a copy.

So no real issue there. I have actually worked on one.

Suggest a want ad in Radio Waves yellow pages to reach the multitude that still don't use the internet.

Are these transformers different to the ones used in the later EC and BP models? The reason I ask is that if they are the same then these later chassis' would be more commonplace by comparison.

If you can't find a true replacement, you could use a smaller generic tube radio IF transformer and it should work as well. You could hide it inside the old IF can. Radiomuseum says the IF is 456kHz, so a 455kHz IF transformer will align in.

Before gutting the IF transformer, take a careful look at the fine wire terminations in the old transformer. Often the fie wire will be corroded through from the rosin used by the factory. If you're lucky, you'll find the bad coil's wire leads broken at the solder terminal, and you can solder it anew, maybe using a short piece of wire to create a new terminal to bridge the gap.

That sounds like a plan but I don't have the old IF can and it will look odd if I have two different types of IF cans sitting in the back of the radio. So if anyone has even one of these cans empty I can put into it a compatible winding so they can look the same from the back please get in touch with us.
Thanks George

You could cut the top off a can.
