Hi,

Am new to this forum and not an electronic person.
Does someone have a 6x4 valve for sale? for an old radio that I had in storage that fell, the valve pop out and the glass broke.
Prefer in Australia so it doesn't cost more than what the valve is worth.
Thanks.

6X4s are still fairly plentiful so you should get one without much trouble.

However, an old radio that hasn't been powered up for some years is potential trouble. Those of us who restore old valve equipment would check such a radio over very carefully before deciding to apply the power ... and then probably only after replacing some components -- such as capacitors (especially filter capacitors) -- which can cause short circuit conditions and damage other components irreparably.

Thanks GTC for replying.

I have been turning the radio on and off every couple of months so it was working.
Any suggestions where can I try to purchase the 6x4 valve? I tried looking at ebay and the prices are crazy.
Am in Melbourne.

Thanks.

You could try Joe Oost in Sydney (oost.pacific.net.au)
