Im working on my Westinghouse 840 (AWA 84 clone) and discovered the primary of the oscillator coil is open circuit. Does anyone have one they are willing to part with before I attempt to unwind it all and find the break.

Thanks
Ben

Have a very good look where the terminals are. Many break there when serviced or corrode off if not coated.

Some of the coils will show green verdigris at the corrosive fail point. Whatever pitch was used on some of those was their downfall. I am sure some of it was corrosive, or catalyzed it.

It was broken at a terminal, but alas it must be broken internally as well.

Due to a suggestion elsewhere I threw in a coil out of a junked chassis and have the radio working. It aligned up spot on after the usual caps/resistors and a crook valve.
