Due to space limitations I am offering for sale five consoles and a radiogram to anyone that is interested in them.

Included is a Stromberg Carlson radiogram from the 1940s, the radio works but the turntable needs the usual fixup. It is a heavy beast and has more than the usual five valves. I don't remember exactly how many but it could be six or seven. It also has the luxury of a slow-close door for the radio.

There are also five console radios from the 1930s-1940s era. Some only need restoration work on the chassis whilst others need repairs to the veneer and repolishing. Included is an AWA Radiola, Weldon, Kriesler Projectographic and two no-name jobs.

It wouldn't be worth it to the seller unless one of these machines was of some sentimental attachment but I'd happily drive them there or anywhere where there is a paved road. Someone else will have to pay for the van hire and petrol though. Smile

Update: After numerous attempts to sell these and being given the royal runaround by some of the tyre kickers out there I am fairly desperate to get rid of these radios.

As such, I am prepared to give these to an interested collector free of charge. There are two conditions and these are strict as I need the space the radios currently occupy.

1. The collector must collect the radios from my lockup in Gladesville, NSW and this must be done before Thursday, 14th May by arranging a suitable time with me. The agreed appointment needs to be kept.
2. The collector must take all the radios featured in the pictures. I will not separate the job lot.

If I do not get a response all these radios will have to go to the tip on the morning of the 15th May.

Please reply in this thread if you wish to become the new owner of these radios. I will be available between 6pm and 9pm on weeknights or at an arranged time on weekends to assist with collection of the radios and access to the lockup.

You will need to bring a van or lorry to carry the radios. None of these will fit into most of the cars made these days.

Suggest you also advertise on Gumtree.

I know Gumtree is infamous for tyre kickers, but it reaches a lot of people.

If, alas, nobody wants them, then I would perhaps suggest removing the chassis, speakers, knobs and dial escutcheons as they can be packed into a smaller space, and we do see the occasional request for a chassis to match a cabinet.

And people pay silly prices for knobs on eBay.

I appreciate your urgency, and space pressure problems, but nobody likes seeing radios go to the tip.

Yes, the plan is to strip all the sets for parts before dumping the shells and other remains though I would prefer them to go to a collector who has the space and hope this will happen.

I've tried a few times to sell on Ebay at rock bottom prices, knowing that most don't have the space for them, though I did a few favours for people claiming to be interested including ending auctions early and got f'd around each time. Some people just don't deserve access to the Internet though like in real life we do have to suffer the grief handed out by a few select idiots.

Its unfortunate that the vintage radio fraternity is not short of people like this but that is life I suppose.

All the radios here are more or less complete. One or two may have a wrong ot missing knob or a dud valve and they all require restoration. I need the space in my lockup for camping equipment as I am not a light camper these days. Gone are the days of a nylon three-man tent, sleeping bag and tomorrow's change of clothes for a pillow. Smile
