Here's the info on the 3 11-99's in my collection. Serial #4969 Date: none marked Colour: Ivory Power cord: 2 wire Back: no groove Rectifier: 6V4 ARTS&P : cyan AC075205 Serial #19039 Date: 26 AUG 1969 Colour: Chocolate Power cord: 3 wire Back: groove Rectifier: 6V4 ARTS&P: cyan AB697937 Serial #46532 Date: 11 MAY 1974 Colour: Red Power cord: 3 wire Back: groove Rectifier: solid state diode ARTS&P: none This radio has had the speaker replaced, but keeping the same transformer. The schematic within shows the 6V4, looks like they never updated it when they switched to solid state.

To explain the "groove", it is on the back cover, but at the bottom and is meant to hold the power cord as it exits the case. It looks like it was only intended for radios with a 3-wire power cord. There's a bit of bad design there: the power cord will naturally get twisted in its lifetime, and where it exits the case the plastic will cut through the grey outer sheath, exposing the wires inside. The early radio with a 2-wire cord has a different back panel which has no hole for the cord, and therefore no groove. The cord comes out of the righthand underneath air slot instead.

Sirwin, no apology needed. There's an 11-99 on Ebay at the moment and I am tempted to buy it just to see what the manufacture date might be. It wasn't just the 11-99 that survived into 1974. I have a chassis for a Kriesler 11-133B radiogram. This is also a valve unit which is the same as an 11-98, but with a silicon rectifier instead of a 6V4. My 11-133B, serial no. 35921, is dated 19/03/1974. I also believe the AWA B15 was a valve mainstay throughout the 1960's and survived into the early 1970's.

Hi all, have three 11-99's as follows: Ok, the cream one is: Serial No. 10835, dated 30th May 1968, 6v4 rectifier. 2 wire mains cord, mix of mustard and paper caps. 30 and 40μF electro's My wife's pinkish maroon (cream face) bedside one is: Serial No. 10036, dated 24th Apr. 1968, these radio's I found the dates on the IF cans. 6v4, 2 wire, paper caps 20 and 25μF electro's My pinkish Maroon (cream face) bedside one with black dial face is: Serial No.47874, dated 2nd July 1974, (date on pwr trans), 3 wire cord, solid state rectifier (3 valves) mustard caps 20 and 25μF electro's.

I've just acquired a new 11-99 and the date is hard to read, my wife and I are at odds, I believe it says 25 May 1976, but she thinks the 6 is a 3! I'll send some photos soon that show the date in the radio and you can see for yourselves!

It won't be 1976. The Kriesler factory in Cawarra Rd Caringbah was fully occupied making colour TVs in 1976. They did nothing else. Had to be that way to keep up with the demand.

Serial number is 42422, so 5th May 1973, Cream coloured like my 1968 ones, but with three ply mains cord and silicon rectifier.

Serial number is 42422, so 5th May 1973 Thanks for the confirmation. List updated above. Nice to now have an entry for 1973. They we really cranking those sets out. Difference between serial numbers from May 1973 to May 1974 is 4,110. Still amazes me given the era.
