Hi Guys,
If you are in or close to Melbourne, this is something you might want to know about.
I found it quite cool that someone posted this on a modern PC modding forum, and I posted a lot Grin
I have been trying to sniff out his valve collection.

http://forums.overclockers.com.au/showthread.php?p=15757543#post15757543.

His Dad is off to a home, and the fellow "g.z" is rather down,
but he's made it clear the stuff has to go.

If there is interest here, it might be appropriate for me to send him here.

I wish I was in Melbourne right now.

I like his Hornby railway and had one a little like that as a kid though I have no-where to put it unfortunately.

A valve a day keeps the transistor away...

I've tried to send him over.
Early on in the thread, it's some the smaller things he
mentions that sound rather cool..
A round 1 inch CRT tube?

I just got an FM only valve receiver.
Don't know if it's worth anything or not,
but so cute, I really want to see it!

I had a look at the linked thread. Certainly some interesting stuff there but I'm not sure if anyone would be willing to spend a lot of money for what would in effect, just sit on the shelf for years!
The seller also says he is a few hours drive from Melbourne which will make it much harder to move the stuff especially when he's not being specific about how far and what direction.

Hopefully it can avoid becoming landfill.

In any case, I thought that might be the wrong forum.
If I was there I'd top the $500 offer with a boot load of selected stuff Grin

I won today!
An antique dealer I've known since childhood, I thought to
pay a visit today, to ask what he did when he come across
valve radios... He said he grabs them if there cabinets are nice,
and also mentioned he never turns them on fearing some "short circuit".
He is paying rent on a shed for storage that he wants to clear
so as not to pay rent for something he can't sell out of.
So I get the two console radios that are in it for free.
They are fresh since gotten from deceased estates which is a plus.
