I am after a 6G8G valve and two Y61 magic eyes. New old stock is preferred. Please reply here with pricing and availability.

According to the source below a Y61 is equivalent to a 6G5G. However, being octal based, the Miniwatt Valve Data Book shows it being close to a 6U5G. I've never heard of a 6G5G, but there are 6G5/6U5's with a 6 pin base which are electrically the same as a 6U5G.

Hi Brad,

I've bought valves from Joe Oost on a few occasions recently. He's usually got both NOS and used of an amazing variety and reasonable prices. Incredibly fast shipment, sometimes next day. I've never had a problem with his used valves.

According to the latest list the HRSA valve bank has NOS 6G8G for $15 but no Y61's ($35 if they did!). Andrew Kay still has quite a lot of stuff left as well.

Cheers, Warren

I just checked the Valve Bank again. They do have 6G5's and 6U5.

They list 6U5G as equivalent to Y61and 6G5.

They have heaps of Y63's which they list as being equivalent to 6G5G and CV1103. NOS $35, used $16.

I wonder what their policy is about selling outside the HRSA?

Warren

The HRSA valve bank is a member service.

I am not a member of any of the radio clubs so buying from them is not an option.

Hi Brad,

sorry for late reply but only saw post, I bought my NOS

6G8G from Antique valve supplies in the US cheaper than

any over here, I get a lot of my valves from there. The dollar being down will bite a bit now though.

Vic.
