I have just obtained an Astor Widows peak mantel in brown bakelite, however the back on the cabinet is cream.
Would anyone have a brown bakelite back for this radio in their stock pile that they could part with?
Happy to exchange for money or a nice cream back.

Hopefully
Harold

Further to my original post, I have just seen a photo and have heard that there may have been some brown cabinets supplied with cream backs.

I would like to hear from anyone with this radio and your colour combination, before I rush into painting mine.

I haven't heard of this though if your cream back is in good nick, I'd be chasing a cream cabinet as much as a brown back. Coloured Widows are worth a king's ransom. The sticky issue is the rarity of this model in any colour.

Harold,

I owned a Widows Peak with a cream back. I can almost say 100% that this was the way some were sold as the one I had was a one owner radio and there was no chance that the back was anything but the original.
