Hi, I'm looking to buy/rent 5 vintage televisions to be used in an upcoming telemovie set in the late 80s. Preferably a variety of styles and sizes but all manufactured between 1970 and 1990. I'm based in Melbourne. Thanks, Jon

      Hi
I've just been looking to sell my 25" AWA Thorn TV. Model C6334. Good condition and still works fine.

Still has owners manual and wiring diagram.

Not sure of exact year but AWA Thorn was making TV's between 1973-84.

Here are a few pics, ignore the dust, I can clean it, unless you want it for age.

I'm in Coffs Harbour, NSW. Half way between Sydney-Brisbane.

 Peter

I have a Thorn-badged version of the AWA C6333 with the model designation 63T1. It has much the same front escutcheon as yours though mine has twin rotary dial tuning whereas yours looks like it has finger touch tuning with the option of an ultrasonic remote control. The cabinet differed slightly too with mine being fitted with short stumpy legs rather than the extra speaker enclosure that yours has.
These sets had very simple motherboards and were thus very reliable, not like Philips and Rank Arena with more than half a dozen boards haphazardly strewn throughout the cabinet connected with a maze of wiring.

I am not sure of the real value of early coloured sets. If I didn't want to hang onto mine for sentimental reasons I'd probably let it go for a carton and a handshake. Like yours, mine still works with a perfect picture - you cannot break these sets even with an axe handle. The only problem I think most of these receivers had is that the woodgrain contact loses its grip with the cabinet.

The very early colour sets that use delta-gun tubes are much rarer than monochrome sets. These are the ones that have the triangular clusters of phosphor spots on the screen. This system was nearly obselete when colour televsion started in Australia.

      Hi Jonnyboy,
you still looking for those TV's ?

I have a '81 Pye, though I am in Newcastle. Let me know if it is of interest.
