I have an Airzone 1152A console radio and am wanting to replace the volume control. The circuit tells me it is a 500K pot but linear or log? I thought log so bought a pot but shaft length is too short and I cannot find one with the correct length shaft (2inches). Alternative would be a shaft extention but cannot find one of these. Any help would be appreciated.
Gary

Log sounds right for volume.

As for the extension, somebody here may have a spare one but if not here's a mob in New York offering 1/4 inch extension shafts and coupler:

Two ways of doing it: a socket with two grub screws & salvage another pot shaft.

Or, a one piece job.

I make mine as required, I think there is a commercial (salvaged) socket sitting on my lathe ( 2Km drive to find out).

I think I made one for the Airzone in SC that is mentioned.
I made one last week (Aluminium) for a Bandmaster AKA, AWA 251.

I had to replace the sensitivity pot & its shaft came up short. You need a logrithmic type pot

Logarithmic pots for volume and linear pots for tone. If you use linear pots for volume all the adjustment will take place at one end, making the control ineffective.

Jaycar used to sell pot shaft extensions but I cannot find them on their website at the moment. If you have a blown pot that still has a good shaft however you can saw the shaft off and couple it to the existing pot with one of these couplers.

Jaycar also sell dozens of types and ratings of pots.

^ Well spotted on the Jaycar coupler. Didn't find it when I was Googling around.

(At $12.95 each bloody pricey though!)

Here is another source of couplers & shaft extensions. Not much cheaper unfortunately.

Also other milled, turned and sheet metal items. Custom jobs considered.
