Hi All,

I'm looking for a 6BW6 for an STC radiogram I'm fixing. Would also like to get a copy of the circuit for it too. The unit is complete and caps have all been changed, but I'm not sure what someone has done to the wiring of the speaker, thus I need the circuit diagram if possible.

Cheers
Scott

Hello Scotty

You would need to supply a model number and/or valve lineup which should be on a label on the chassis.

Valve lineup is 12AH8, 6BA6, 6N8, 6BW6, 6X4.

All valves were missing when I picked it up.

UPDATE, I have now got a copy of the circuit, I do however, still need to find a valve - 6BW6.
Hope someone can assist. I emailed the HRSA valve bank Saturday, but have not heard from them.
Cheers

http://www.rockby.com.au/searchres.cfm?select=59&subcode=90&offset=101.

There's one left according to their database, but pricey.

Just for interest, the 6BW6 is electrically identical to the 6V6 but has a 9 pin base. It is not a particularly common valve outside of the UK, and in Australia it's mainly used in STC equipment (Most examples are made by Brimar which was part of STC)

If you can't get a 6BW6, the socket could be rewired and bias resistor altered to suit a 6BQ5 or 6M5.

The 9 pin video output pentode, 6CH6, was another valve beloved of STC in the 50's for audio output stage of their receivers. It allowed STC to claim they had the latest "television valve" in their sets just before the introduction of TV here.

For interest now, it is the commercial equivalent of CV2136
