Grew up with my grandfather's and his favourite radio - hate to send it to the tip when someone out there might love to just have it!

Don't send it to the tip. They ain't making these anymore and somebody will love it after you.

Someone here may well grab it, otherwise if that's still in working condition, and if the case is uncracked and especially if the Kriesler badge is complete and intact, and if you are willing to carefully pack and post it then you should get a reasonable price for it on eBay.

PS: If its operational condition is unknown, then don't power it up to find out or you may do irreparable damage to it.

The Kriesler has now found a new home.
