***NOTE: THIS ITEM NO LONGER BEING OFFERED FOR SALE - Please do not send any more offers***

I don't know if this unit would be considered "vintage" yet... I don't know what era it is from.. possibly 60's or 70's.
The model number/serial number on the back has completely faded off and I could not find any information about it online.
It says it is a "Stowaway by HMV, Solid State Stereo System"
The electronics seems to be completely functional with the exception of a blown bulb.
However the cabinet itself is in bad shape. It is made from chipboard and the front panel has fallen off and the base chipboard is broken.
I don't know if it is worth restoring the cabinet. Someone might like it to use for parts to fix another unit.
I put it up on ebay with photos and description. You can view it here at (link removed).

Um.... how come it says under my user info that I have 7 posts? I have only ever made 2 posts (including this one).

G'day Dalek,

There is a bug in the count function which is more or less incurable. This will be sorted when the forum software is replaced later in the year. Wink

Gday, I had a look at the HMV on ebay, looks almost like it got water damaged. It's circa 1970's . looking at the pics it looks like it's all there??
am interested, but would need to know if it can be boxed and sent to Melbourne?
Cheers
Scott

There are no manuals or spare styluses etc. with it. There is only the unit itself. I don't think the main unit has had any water damage. It looks like someone has tried to stand on the base chipboard which has cracked in the middle. The front panel has fallen off and does appear to have been subjected to water (swollen crumbling chipboard).
I don't know if the tuner works properly - there is no antenna plugged into the back. The turntable spins and the speakers output sound. The volume, trebble and bass knobs seem to work. There is a blown bulb which illuminates the tuner indicator needle.
Arranging to have it sent to Melbourne could be cost prohibitive. You would have to arrange for a courier to pick it up at your cost. If this interests you, I can work out the weight and dimensions for you.

Gday again, I sent you a message via Ebay as well. I spoke with a friend last night who says he may be able to organise transport for it to Melbourne. He said I'll need to get from you the dimensions and weight - he also said that it will need to be boxed.
Look forward to hearing from you,
Regards
Scott

PS: you can email me directly on scottaharrison.optusnet.com.au if that's easier.

Since Scotty seems very interested in this unit, despite the poor condition of the cabinet.... I have removed my 'for sale' posts for this unit on all other vinyl forums in order to prevent anyone sending me any further offers. I also edit the first post in this thread to reflect that I am no longer looking for offers.
