I'm finally back online and can help with any information you need about Philips colour TV's.

The K9 chassis TV's were sold from 1974 to 1976 being replaced in 1976 with the K11 chassis.

If you're sure the set you're after was made in the 1980's then it would be a model using the KL9 chassis.

I have pictures of many of the different models if you want to identify the set you remember.

The various Philips sets are all quite reliable and the KL9 chassis (based on the European K30) was known worldwide for its reliability. You should not have too much trouble finding a set as even the early K9's are still turning up occaisonally.

Hi Hamish, I'll email an assortment of Philips colour TV pictures to you to see if you can find a match.

There were some very unreliable sets made during the mid 1970's by some manufacturers but there are also some very reliable ones. Philips sets did have their issues but on the whole were among the more reliable and well engineered sets.

Nowadays Ebay is the best place to look for old TV's though not many show up. It takes a bit of patience before one pops up for sale. Hopefully the interest on these forums in TV related discussion should bring some out of the woodwork.

Andrew
