I have a number of early 60's AWA transistor radio wrecks (not B42) that I am intending to dispose of. I will check to see if the ferrite rods have the same part no. as the B42.
I'll will let you know later today after I finish work.

I checked my AWA wrecks. Unfortunately after going through some AWA manuals it seems that the ferrite rod, or at least the part number, is unique to the B42.
What is wrong with the existing rod? Also what are the physical dimensions & ohm readings?

Just an update.
Done a bit more digging & the B42 is virtually electrically identical to models B17, B18 & B29.
I have a B17 wreck you can have. I think it even still works.
My email is not hidden. Shoot me your contact details & I'll post it to you.

Hello Monochrome.
Your kindness has resulted in me fixing this radio!
The ferrite rod had an open circuit coil winding actually the winding on the base of VT1.
however with all it's other faults, smashed board o/c speaker etc I confused myself with the winding across the 10-200pf C1tuning cap and after picking off some turns until I got continuity, I earthed this coil lead it should have gone to the 10K resistor R1. Had you not asked what was wrong with this ferrite rod I would not have revisted it. I wanted to give you a factual answer. Upon revisiting I discovered my mistake. I reconnected it and it now works.
I still have to try and put it back together without snapping off anything else. I will email you because I may be interested in buying some of bits.
Thank you for your kindness.
Jim Braddock. Jimb.
