A request from a good friend. He has a black AWA identical to my white one. The case is good but it is missing the framework around the dial. Does anyone here have one ( the frame work ) and how much do you want for it.

If you have one,you may be able to print another. What is the white stuff? Paint I assume. Acrylic house paint has difficulty bonding to plastic & over time Bakelite will emit enough Formaldehyde to ruin the bond. Acrylic paint will not tolerate Methylated Spirits: The plastic should,if it doesn't flick off.

Test elsewhere rule applies

The type of plastic used in dial escutcheons like that of the 540MA and speaker grills of the 527MA of AWA radios of the 1950s can be effected by distortion through shrinkage to some degree.....due to heat?

I would be a customer for the speaker grill for a 527MA if one could be printed. Colour wouldn't matter - there are paint primers for plastic which seem to work quite well.

I would be cautious with "Plastic" there are resin types as well, some of that printing plastic has a melting point that is quite low & my concern would be distortion.

Marc.
