I have an Amplion AR19 and the metal strips that hold the wooden petals together are missing.
It’s a long shot, but does anyone have any?

Hi Garyoz,

Your best bet would be to place an ad on the UK radioforum website. I've previously seen posts about rebuilding these speakers there, as well as in the UK mag - BVWS. They would not be impossible to make, if you had access to a tool shop.

I would imagine that there's a few around, but where? Too many of these fine loudspeakers don't remain in good order due to them being left in bad environments, leading to the petals warping, some to the point that they are no longer able to fit into the metal parts. Such a speaker would provide the replacement parts you need. The trick is watching Ebay or putting an ad in the yellow pages of Radio Waves if no leads come up here.

These speakers came in at least four sizes, three of which were on offer at a recent radio auction I attended. The other trick is acquiring the right size.

A valve a day keeps the transistor away...
