You could take a new one and replica-ise it with grey hammertone paint and satin black for the magnet. I could run you off a replica Rola sticker.

That's if the search for a real Rola fails.

Another possibility - Philips Lane Cove sometimes used MSP speakers as a 2nd source. So one of those would be authentic too.

BTW I plan to replace the 2 core beige mains cable and broken white bakelite plug on the chassis with a 3 core cable. You OK with this?

G day Ian,
I know a guy that has huge amounts of 50s 60s TV stuff.
I'll try to contact him this weekend.
As for the mains Ian. You can do whatever you wish with the chassis , you know best there!
I'm still restoring cabinet and now all the veneer is repaired.
Theres still a Long way to go yet on the cabinet , but I will put up a progress post in a few days.
Ok , hope ya watching Homicide on it over 😕

Pete

Homicide....

Yes the disappointing thing about almost all early OZ TV is we only have kinescopes, that is, 16mm film recorded from a CRT.

With a few exceptions, notably Ch 9 Sydney that used mostly German Fernseh gear and maintained very high technical standards for their kinescopes, the picture quality doesn't show up what our old TVs are capable of. Ch 7 Melbourne and Sydney is a case in point, their kinescopes (including all the early Homicide episodes) aren't nearly as good as those of Ch 9.

And the ABC, despite having the best gear, just didn't seem to care enough to use it properly. Example - early Auntie Jack episodes.

There are a few programs derived from quad videotape (wonderful!) but mostly not. Hey, the great thing about videotape is you could record over it!!
