I picked up this cabinet this afternoon at an antique shop that is closing down.

It has been "refinished" unfortunately but not beyond redemption. Veneer is lifting in a few places. Extra holes below the 4 knob holes look like they once held a badge.

I'm either looking for a suitable chassis - I don't much care what condition - and an 8 inch electrodynamic speaker.

Or, if someone already has a chassis and lacks a cabinet, I'm happy to sell it for what I paid for it.

Anyone??

Well Pete had a look at it and says it will be hard to bring back to original because of the way it's been done.

As I recall though these depression-era cabinets often had a pretty ordinary standard of construction and finish. The inside looks like it's been built with packing case timber or fence palings (well maybe not quite that bad!) and there's knots in the verticals so the timber looks like pine....

So I'm telling myself, maybe it's depression authentic??

Someone MUST have a chassis I can put in it! Rusty, incomplete, I don't care!!

It looks quite okay to me, but I'm not a purist when it comes to consoles.

If someone can supply Ian with a chassis for this Radiogram than I can bring the cabinet home and spend some time on it to restore it,
But he needs a chassis for it ,There must be one in someones shed.
Thanks Pete ..

Ian, it is a nice cabinet, any idea of the make or which radio it was built for. Sorry I do not have a chassis but will keep a look out for you on my travels.
Cheers George.

No idea of the brand except that I doubt it's one of the majors.

There seems to have been a diamond shaped badge on the front, below the knobs, at some stage.
