Oh okay. I'll pass on the transformer. I think I'll play it safe and get a new one. I don't want the windings shorting and damaging anything on the other end.

Monochrome, how common are those 12" wooden case PYEs? I love the look of that thing and want to get one. How much would one of those be valued at?

That Pye portable was the only one I've ever seen. I don't know if they were that common. It is in TV Collectors hands now and he has since got it working. Perhaps ask him - he may have a better idea of it's history & its worth. In the meantime, keep your eyes open in your immediate neighbourhood, something will surely turn up.

The little Philips and Pye portable TV's are both back in the land of the living! Funnily enough the problem with the Philips was a couple of Japanese made polyester film capacitors, all the original Australian parts were fine.

Late 1960's and early 1970's Aussie portable TV's are very hard to find now with the exception of the AWA P1 and Astor R11P/7 portables. These do turn up on a fairly regular basis. Google "Astor portable TV" to see pictures of it.

I know of only one other Pye 12F-1 and that is in the hands of a collector in Sydney. These little TV's are really hard to put a value on, they are rare but not many people are interested in them so an average value is around $20 to $60.
