This was a Dalek sized thing on wheels, put in the centre of the ward. Room evacuated, all doors and air conditioner vents taped or otherwise sealed up. In pure form hydrogen peroxide is extremely reactive. So it can hardly be pure and must be diluted with water. So plenty of water flying around as well .

Hydrogen Peroxide (Rocker fuel) is not particularly stable, as the Germans found out in WWII. Its decomposition is violent & exothermic. It does not need much contamination to cause that to happen.

It gets more fun now with AS3000:2018 mandating RCD's on all domestic subcircuits ....period. So your hot water, ovens, and everything else all now need to be covered, not just General Power & Light circuits. Fortunately the majority of installs are done with RCBO's, so the 1 or 2 RCDs for the house should disappear, and it's just a single circuit that trips out.

I would bet that the corroded lead on the filter cap, was the positive lead. I never saw a negative lead corrode. Wayne.

Positive is normally the hot lead. It is normally the one that gives the most trouble. It is noted an all of my vehicles from the fifties even the Grey Fergie, that they were positive earth & normally used open braided leads for the earth straps. Those leads would dissipate quite a bit of heat. LV garden solenoids reduce their corrosion by using AC.
