Apart from the magic eye, that lineup was popular with S C radios. Here are some year models with it:

1939 F69
1940 541
1940 C40
1940 M40
1941 542
1941 C41

The only SC models I have doco for with 6U5 also have 25 volt rectifier and power output valves (25Z6G and 25L6G).

Can't see it in AORSM but it looks like it is a 1939 640

Console model 640 lineup has 2 x 6U7: 6U7G, 6J8G, 6U7G, 6B6G, 6U5, 6V6G and 5Y3G

Has there maybe been a valve miscount?

Hello Bowler. This may be a bit late and sadly there is no circuit diagram but a Stromberg-Carlson Model 539 is listed in the 1939 Radio Trade Annual & Service Manual on Page 332. The listing shows the same valves types that you gave. It was an AC console model and cost 26 Guineas new. The IF frequency was 458Kc and it had a 12" speaker with a 1000R field coil.

There are a number of circuit diagrams for other Stromberg-Carlson radios but none have a 5Y3G.
