Hi all.

I have an AWA 467MA radio.

It needs a 6BV7 valve, as mine is clearly gone.

Is there a direct replacement for this valve....?

It will have to be a direct replacement in my case, as I am not savvy enough to tackle re wiring, etc.

Alternatively does anyone have a 6BV7, they want to part with....?

I am located in Sydney.

Cheers

There is no direct replacement for the AWV 6BV7 and they are getting rare. Good luck!

If you can't locate one I worked out a way to use a 6GV8 (I think it was). But it does require a few changes.

The 6BV7 was also used in some early AWA TV chassis.

Last time I checked, the HSRA (Historical Radio Society of Australia) valve bank had both new and used 6BV7's in stock for quite reasonable prices. Admittedly that was some time ago. Perhaps you could consider joining the society - highly recommended - or perhaps a HSRA member closer to your location may be able to help. The HSRA web site - http://www.hrsa.asn.au/

But before embarking on a journey to find a replacement valve are you confident enough in the integrity of the other components and in fact in the safety of the radio itself. Just plugging a new valve in and switching on an old radio is often not a wise idea.

Yes the radio was going, until I stupidly dropped and destroyed the valve

Try EVATCO in Queensland, they have a lot of hard to get valves both NOS or tested good.

Have found them to be very helpful in the past. Send an email and they will look it up.

Just a follow up on my quest to find a 6BV7.

Vintage Radio and Television forum member Jimb, has very kindly supplied me with two new old stock radiotron 6BV7's.

They will keep two radios in circulation.

An AWA 467MA and a AWA 46MA which also has a clock.

My sincere thanks to Jimb.

AWA 461(?)MA which also has a clock

If the clock still works, consider yourself quite lucky.
