G'day all & any, acquired a STC 275 console radio just recently- manufactured during 1948. Can look beautiful with a tidy up & lacquer, woodwork is in very good order considering its age.
However the underside of the chassis is a very different story. Mice/rat damage as pictured..will send the Pics to Brad for posting whenever you can ...thanks!
If anyone has a circuit diagram/service data for the unit it would be greatly appreciated to assist in identifying the chewed caps for replacement.
The only problem left then is the fine windings chewed in the tuning/Ariel end of the unit. Is it possible to repair this area? Or is this pretty much end of the road stuff considering cost to value?

Any email to chev400jeep.yahoo.com.au

Thanks

Graham thanks a million, at least I can get to work as an amp if nothing else.
Will have to figure out what to do with the windings of the antenna coil inductor later. The only thing I can relate it to visibly to make sense to any readers is its simarlarity to a Ferrite coil antenna. Unfortunately it looks very complex to replace & then retune radio?. Ideas suggestions welcome. There are two of these which I assume one is for Shortwave & the other for MW. Would be willing to send it out for repairs if anyone can make a safe recommendation. Would rather learn myself however but a bit lost with this one.

Regards Paul

As long as the broken wire/s is/are close too the original post and there is a small ammount of wire protruding; I have been able to scrape the insulation off & splice in a wire to meet it, on several.

Worth a try.

Mice love paper caps. You should be able to work out the caps from the circuit & their physical size. You may also need to wash off some of the mouse do.

Marc
