Bunnings is for bbq"s or victa mowers from China, the best place ever to buy furniture finishes was Stimsons at Balmain, you could buy all the good stuff there. But he has closed the doors now. I got all my finishes and tints from him for years, next best place in Sydney is John's paint shop. The other issue with Bunnings and hardwares is this,,The paint stripper they sell is not for veneers, it will burn many veneers and you will need to bleach the veneer with oxalic acid to get the colour back. Varnish paint stripper is softer and modern hardwares dont sell it. Only paint shops sell it. Off topic a bit, but keep it in mind when doing your next cabinet. They just dont cater for antique restoring and they have no idea, but will gladly advise you on the wrong product.

I can recommend Mitre 10 at Cook St. Forestville.
Old-school hardware and timber merchant dating from the early 1960s. Taken over by Mitre 10 chain but still much the same as always. Knowledgeable and helpful staff have mostly been there for many years.

It is also known as Eaton's Hardware and Timber. They go back to at least the 1920s but before they relocated to the Forestville site they were down near where Luna Park is. They had a huge timber yard down there as can be seen in photos taken at the time. It is a proper hardware store.
