Hi all,

I require a circuit for a Kriesler Model No 11-29 valve radio. Looks as if the power transformer has blown up. Is there a service where they can rewind the power transformer? Or where I can purchase a replacement transformer. Any ideas to solve this problem would be appreciated.

Thanks,
R Wall.

Getting hold of a new transformer would be nigh on impossible these days however a transformer manufacturer or a collector with their own rewinding jig would be able to resurrect the existing transformer.

You would need to provide the output voltages for the secondary windings though as these aren't the same in every radio, though there are usually three secondary windings and a common set of voltages are 700 volts with a 350 volt centre tap for the high tension, 5.0 volts for the rectifier filaments and 6.3 volts for the filiaments in the remaining valves and the dial lamps. As mentioned, whilst this was a popular arrangement it didn't suit all receivers.

Our Service Directory here on Vintage Radio may be of help with locating a suitable person to perform this sort of work.

A valve a day keeps the transistor away...

EVATCO has some transformers listed.
They should also have a circuit for a fee
Otherwise if you cannot source one second hand, try tubesandmore.com (USA) they have them. You will need to have an idea of the current ratings.
Add up the maximum Plate & Screen current & add a little for the electro's, if you do not know.

I've got the circuit and a contact on the Gold Coast who rewinds transformers.

Hi all,

Thanks very much for all your help. I've sent an email to get the circuit, thanks Rudy.

I 1st need the circuit to determine what the voltages etc are for the transformer. The Kriesler Radio I did up some time ago for a friend's mother, replaced capacitors etc. The radio was his grandmother's radio. My friend's mother was using the radio until it started smell and give up smoke. Knowing the Radios value to her I would like to get it working again for her.

Thanks for your help,

Roderick Wall.
