Does anyone have any info on a Philips Miniwatt Made in Great Britain EK32 Valve? It is red in colour, but I can only find data for an EK3

There is a site called Franks Electron Tube Pages always the first port of call http://www.tubedata.info/

EK32 is an Octode frequency converter. Do be careful with those as you can break the bond between the socket & metalisation.

Pin 1 Metalisation

Pin 2 Heater

Pin 3 Anode

Pin 4 Grids 3&5

Pin 5 Grid 1 (control Grid)

The EK32 is the same as a EK2G, and is electrically equivalent to a p-base EK2:

When I first saw tubes like these, I thought they were "surface mount device" tubes. Smile As if they were to be soldered to circuit boards... Sure... Smile

The circuit I have for the one I sorted uses a 6A8 so there may have been variants if it was made around war time?

It has a reddish brown cardboard wrapped Ducon electrolytic that goes from pin 1 to chassis, so big it has rubbed on the bottom of the bakelite.
My guess is someone else has changed things at a much later date than the radio was manufactured.

I may have to give it a total rebuild if I can get some photo's of one as it came out of the factory.

Does anyone have circuits for the A, B and C models? I only have the first one.

I am in the process of sending a few photo's to Brad. One is the green 141C with circuit. I did find a 6K8 that should not have been there in a set lately.

Not uncommon to find 6A8; 6J8; 6K8; & ECH35 in the other ones spot working away happily. But not always with the same performance.
